Off the Map: Part 11

So after the build up the final week arrived. This week was comprised off rapid population, lighting, waiting for building, and getting Alice into the engine file. This was an fun if not stressful week and after a lot of panicking we pulled it out the bag and made something not that bad.

Starting off with Alice and the other animations and matinees I was given control of Alice and the hatters max files to animate them and then export them to engine. I made the animation blueprints which for the hatter was easy because it was just connecting up the animation to the final result so it played on loop. For Alice it was slightly harder but very fun and interesting. I made a blend space so dependent on Alice's speed she would walk or run. I then connected up in another animation blueprint that when in the air Alice would go through her jump animations and depended if she had just hit the ground or left it would launch or land herself.

We didn't have time in the end to apply the apex cloth to her shirt which is a shame because it means there is some clipping.

The rest of the week as I said was spend populating and importing many of the assets. We did have some trouble with Josh's assets who only gave them to me and unfinished on the last day with odd texture choices. The essential assets he made weren't finished and it became obvious he didn't read the style guide I made when he joined the group so he could catch up to us.

The final pictures though turned out alright and it is a fully playable game.
